Keep Your Music Collection Safe in a Wooden Storage Rack

Concerned about how your room would look if you add a plastic rack to store your compact discs? Let’s face it, our rooms have a lot to tell about us. What we put in them reflects our interests and even how we view the world. If you are a serious music collector and you are having problems keeping your collection organized you probably need to store it and organize it in a safe place. But how can you show your collection to your visitors while keeping your room looking good. Easy.

A wooden Cd storage rack can easily get the job done especially if your furniture is also made of wood. The good thing about these racks is that you can choose one to match the color of your furniture if it has a natural wood finish. If the furniture in you room is darker than your rack then it would not look good or vice versa. However, you easily change the color of your CD storage rack with some varnish to make it match its surrounding. For this reason if you can’t find a matching finish you should buy a rack that has a lighter finish that way if you can paint it with some varnish and avoid losing the natural looking finish that you are looking for.

Wood however has some drawbacks. If your home has a termite problem you may want to make sure that your CD storage furniture is made of wood that is resistant to these pests. You should also make sure that sunlight entering you home by windows does not hit your furniture or else the finish may become damaged and even worst your CD cases and you discs may become warped. If your furniture is exposed to sunlight and you find that booklets and covers are losing colors it may be time to relocate your collection. Move it to an area in the room where it is not exposed to direct sunlight.

Water may also be an issue. Guess what will happen if windows on the are open and wind carries rain inside the room and your storage rack is is below a window? For us music enthusiasts nothing could ruin our day more than finding our precious collection ruined by water. Of course, you can easily save your discs but be ready to say good by to the booklets that are included in them. Then again this is worst case scenario but things like these can happen when you least expect it and they do.
