Reviews of the best 15 inch tvs for different uses and where to get them.

The hottest 15 inch right now and for the last few months has been LG's 15 inch OLED TV. OLED, or organic light emitting diode, creates an almost impossbily slim TV screen - a mere .1 inches. That's as thin as two nickels stacked on top of each other. The OLED 15 inch supposedly also has amazing brightness and over a million colors. The specific resolution has not yet been released.

This amazing little TV was supposed to ship and be available for purchase in the US in December, but still is not available anywhere I could find in February. It is expected to launch in Korea and then be available in the US. There's only one problem: it is expected to cost in the vicinity of $2,500, which was what an earlier prototype (that was only 11 inches) cost when it launched. Personally, I'd rather fund my ROTH IRA and take a short vacation than spend that much on a TV, and I bet I'm not alone.

For a 15 inch TV you could actually buy, the best rated ones on Amazon is the Toshiba 15LV506 or 15LV505 15.6-Inch Widescreen LCD TV with Built in DVD. Right now, Amazon has the 15LV506 for $243, but the black 15LV505 is only $200. The 15LV505 is the black model, and the 15LV506 is the white model. Its a pretty good deal. Its especially nice that it has a built-in DVD player. One less thing to buy, dust and have to mess around with to get it to work.

Best Buy also has the 15LV505 as a top seller with strong reviews, but its sold out online right now. Their price is $250. The other model doing well at Best Buy is the Dynex - 15" Class / 720p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV, Model: DX-L15-10A. That's on sale for $130, which is a nice deal for a well-rated 15 in LCD HDTV. Even so, the Dynex does not have a DVD player.

Walmart's choices for 15 inch TVs are quite a disappointment. There aren't any. The smallest TV at Walmart.com is the Viore 10.2" Portable LCD TV with Built-in DVD Player, Model PLCD10V59 for $180 (gimmee Amazon's 15LV505 in a heartbeat!). And the next size up has a few different models in the 19 inch category, all around $200.

Target, on the other hand, has nearly a dozen different 15 inch models (11 actually). The problem is that some of them are pretty clearly for children. Do not bring home the "Disney Princess 15" LCD TV" to watch the game on (and especially not for the $260 Target wants for it. Ouch! The "Skyworth 15" AC/DC 720p LCD TV - Black (SLTV-1551A)" for $200, which has gotten two five star reviews, would be a much better choice.
