Stacking Bins: Save Space And Stay Organized

Stacking bins have a few major advantages to offer: excellent space utilization, great organizational functionality and reasonable price points. These three aspects can be well illustrated by a few simple examples but that does not mean that stacking bins are a wise purchase for every situation so the shortcomings of stacking bins will be included as well.

Consider for a moment a busy workbench replete with tools and a variety of screws, bolts, nuts, clips, ties, nails and other specialty equipment necessary for performing whatever task is at hand. A well chosen set of stacking bins can be used to sort different items on the work bench and create an easily accessible collection of tools and parts that are ready for use but separated by whatever criteria are appropriate. In this case the only downside to stacking bins is that they do not offer any protection or locking systems to keep tools and/or components out of the hands of children or others who might happen by.

On the subject of children it is worth noting that stacking bins might serve a variety of uses in the house as well, specifically with children. Keeping toys or games organized can be a challenge, especially for children who have enough toys to fill a toy store or two lurking around the house. Alternatively it might be a good idea to store clothing of different types in stacking bins both in the rooms of children as well as adults. This may not be the most elegant of solutions but it is cost effective, accessible and simple.

Businesses or organizations that want to keep small items in their office space(s) for any reason may also want to consider stacking bins. Easy sorting is a major benefit for those organizations with many different types of items such as blood samples, promotional materials or even paperwork to offer or sort through. There may be better purpose-built items for each of these different applications but wise business owners know that frugality is a virtue that is nearly priceless. There are applications for stacking bins in many different environments but the major advantages of all forms of stacking bins is their combination of small footprint and easy access. The small footprint is due to the stackable aspect of stacking bins; additional storage needs can be easily met at any time by stacking additional stacking bins atop those on the bottom with the provision that weight limits do exist and must be considered.

Easy access translates directly into time savings. No more opening or closing doors or drawers to put items away or retrieve them. Simply put the item in a stacking bin or pull it out. This does create security concerns or accountability problems in certain situations so choose wisely before investing in stacking bins.
